Not going to take up too much time with this as i am sure everyone is growing tired of hearing about it, and hearing everybody's opinions, qualified or not ( mine certainly being in the latter), but I am officially disgusted with the U.S. government. I'm not moving to Canada, and as of yet I have no revolutionary agendas, but this economic crisis/bailout garbage has put me over the top.
I would be lying if I said i were surprised that the knee-jerk reaction of the government and those heavily invested in financial markets was/is to throw money at the problem and let the chips fall where they may. Repeatedly lawmakers said the bailout isn't perfect, is flawed, may not work, etc... yet without missing a beat, in the next breath, say that we need to do something now!
WHAT?
WHY?
Have we not learned that as a nation, we suck at snap judgements and decisions made in an undue rush. My personal feeling is that nothing should be done, markets will correct themselves, credit-based businesses and sectors will fail, and the sun will continue to rise, and life will go on. Time for a little house cleaning (literally and figuratively) anyway. Advance the focus of our economy beyond real-estate and speculation to, wait for it, true progress in fields which affect our daily lives, energy, infrastructure, health care, something worth a damn.
i'm done. for now
